      This study presents the native flora of Mountain Panachaikon (N.W. Peloponnese, Greece), after extensive field work (from ~ to m) and critical literature review. The vascular native flora of Mt. Panachaikon comprises taxa, 95 of which are Greek endemics, 79 are Balkan endemics, while taxa are reported here for the first by: 2.   This is a most beautiful book. It is also a most important publication, for it celebrates the wild flowers of Greece, a country that holds > higher plants, Europe's richest : John Akeroyd.

    To be fair, Greece has worked greatly on its pollution problems since the s and the quality of life in colourful Attica has improved significantly. The region is also a quick springboard for many close-by destinations and islands, such as Aegina, Andros, Angistri, Hydra, Kea and Poros. Aristotle was the first to try and describe all the plants and animals; in other words, the flora and the fauna, that existed at that time in Greece. Especially for flora, he wrote his book called “Concerning Plants”, which however was lost over time. His student, Theophrastus, was especially interested in flora, as depicted in his works “On the causes of plants” and “Enquiry into.
